Launch of the First Nordic Fusion Forum
The Nordic Fusion Forum, led by Novatron Fusion Group in collaboration with KTH Royal Institute of Technology, will debut on October 1. This event at KTH in Stockholm, offers a Nordic perspective on the global fusion energy landscape, emphasizing the urgent need to industrialize commercial fusion energy.
Fusion energy is one of many critical solutions to the world's climate challenges, including the electrification of societies and businesses. As leading industrialized nations now refine their fusion strategies, recruit top talents and invest heavily in public-private partnerships, the Nordics must act decisively to remain competitive or risk being left behind.
According to the Fusion Industry Association, public investments in private initiatives have increased by 57 percent in the last year and the accumulated investments in private fusion companies are now more than $7 billion*. In addition, governments are increasing their engagement to accelerate the industrialization of fusion power.
Together with the global fusion industry, Novatron Fusion Group share the collective interest in building credibility and trust in fusion as initiatives advance toward commercialization and global impact.
- The Nordic region stands to gain significantly by securing competencies and accelerating industrialization efforts, with commercial fusion energy expected to become a reality by 2040, says Philip von Segebaden, Head of Investor Relations and Partnerships at Novatron Fusion Group.
The first Nordic Fusion Forum aims to showcase advancements in fusion energy, drawing attention from investors, media and policymakers. The event will highlight technical, industrial and commercial progress in the field.
- These topics aim to engage key decision-makers, industry stakeholders, investors and politicians in a needed dialogue about the future of fusion energy in the Nordic region. Joining forces across stakeholders will be key to pave way for fusion energy's potential and societal impact, says Lisa Ericsson, CEO of KTH Holding AB.
The Nordic Fusion Forum will focus on several key topics, including:
• Industrialization: Discussing the steps needed to accelerate the industrialization of commercial fusion energy.
• Commercial Opportunities: Exploring the commercial potential and investment opportunities within the fusion energy sector.
• Nordic Collaboration: Emphasizing the importance of regional cooperation to secure competencies and drive progress.
• Policy and Regulation: Engaging with policymakers to discuss regulatory frameworks and public-private partnerships.
• Societal Impact: Addressing the potential societal benefits and challenges of adopting fusion energy.
• Technical Advancements: Highlighting the latest developments in fusion energy technology.
Fusion energy development is complex. Despite its challenges, the potential positive impact on humanity is immense. The Nordics have a strong tradition of overcoming obstacles through collaboration. Realizing fusion energy sooner demands open dialogue with investors, regulators, academia and the public.
